The A Plus Billiard Bali Open International Tournament, an international billiards event, has concluded, dominated by players from the Philippines. The event, which began on April 15, 2024, reached its climax with the final matches held in the Jimbaran area of South Kuta, Badung, Bali on Saturday (April 20, 2024).
This tournament featured the 10 ball and 9 ball disciplines, ending in matches between Filipino athletes who dominated from the semifinals onward. In the 10 ball event, Michael Baonan emerged as the champion after defeating his fellow countryman, Bong Bata. In the 9 ball event, Bong Bata claimed the championship title after defeating Sean Mark, who is also from the Philippines.
Nevertheless, Indonesian players also showed satisfying performances by making it into the top ten of the tournament. In the 10 ball event, players such as Rico, Ponco, Jefry Zen, Ismail Kadir, and Aby Robin stood out. Meanwhile, in the 9 ball event, names like Andri, Punguan, Maconk, and Ari Tokyo also achieved respectable results.
“This tournament also serves as preparation and a trial for Indonesian athletes ahead of the National Sports Week (PON) in Aceh – North Sumatra 2024, which will take place in September,” revealed Bahrain, representing the tournament committee.
Although the results were not the best, the Indonesian billiard players have proven that they can still compete with other international athletes.
