Joshua Filler takes the Knight Shot 9 Ball Open championship by beating Eklent Kaci 13-11. Kaci was leading for most of the match, but Filler managed to hang on and tie the match at 10-all. Kaci had his fair share of chances, but a couple of crucial misses were all Filler needed to steal the match.

Editor’s Notes:

• This is Kaci’s second consecutive runner-up finish in two weeks, after losing to Fedor Gorst in the World Pool Championships. It’s safe to say he’s back to being one of the world’s best players after the injury he suffered last year.
• Another deep run for Johann Chua, finishing 3rd after losing to the eventual champion, Joshua Filler, 11-3 in the semifinals. He takes $4,000 and solidifies his position as possibly the second player to qualify for the Reyes Cup.
• The Viking, Mickey Krause, is showing he’s ready to take the leap. After finishing in the Last 16 of the World Pool Championship, he continues his impressive run, finishing as a semifinalist in this event.

What’s next?

With the rumors of the World Cup of Pool not happening this year, July looks to be barren of any major pool events.

For non-Matchroom events, the Maldives Open 2024 – 10 Ball Championship will start on June 25. We expect a sizeable contingent of Filipino players to participate in this event.
