Ameer Ali, a professional pool player from Iraq, who is currently the #2 highest ranked player in the world in the FargoRate rankings. With a staggering rating of around 850, he now sits just behind Joshua Filler—surpassing many of the sport’s most recognized names. And yet, to most fans, he’s still a complete mystery.

Based in the Middle East, Ameer Ali has made a name for himself not on the big Matchroom or Predator Pro Series, but through strong performances in Asian and regional competitions. He earned a bronze medal at the 2024 Asian 10-Ball Championship in Doha, reached the quarterfinals of the 2024 Qatar World Cup 10-Ball, and recently captured the title at the 2025 West Asia Championships in Qatar.

He also made a solid run in the 2024 Heyball Asian Open—no surprise, considering his background in snooker, which has clearly helped shape his cue ball control and table discipline.

So why haven’t we heard more about Ameer Ali?

A big part of it is visibility. He competes mostly in Middle Eastern and Asian events that don’t always get global media coverage. He’s only recently begun stepping into the international spotlight, and things like sponsorships, travel logistics, or visa challenges may have limited his ability to join major tournaments abroad.

I’ve tried asking around for more stories or trivia about him, but so far, not much has surfaced. That only adds to the mystery.

So now the question is—does Ameer Ali’s high rank expose a flaw in the Fargo system? Or are we simply late in recognizing a world-class talent quietly rising from a region often overlooked?
