Filipina billiards icon Rubilen “Bingkay” Amit has announced her withdrawal from the upcoming 2025 World Pool Championship in Jeddah due to health concerns.

In a heartfelt message shared on social media, the two-time World 10-Ball Champion expressed her deep disappointment over the decision, noting that it was made after careful consultation with her doctors.

“Unfortunately, due to health concerns, I’ve had to withdraw from the event. I was truly looking forward to competing and giving it my all, even with how I’d been feeling. But after careful consideration and on the advice of my doctors, I’ve made the difficult decision to pause and prioritize my recovery,” Amit wrote.

Amit’s inclusion in the event was highly anticipated, not only because of her accolades but also because she would have been one of the very few women to compete in a traditionally male-dominated championship. Her presence was seen as a powerful statement in support of women in sports.

“As someone who continually advocates for women in sports, it would’ve been a great honor to compete among the world’s best male players and represent women on such a prestigious stage,” she added.

She also extended her gratitude to Matchroom Pool and the event organizers for the invitation and their understanding of her situation.

While fans will certainly miss her presence in Jeddah, Amit emphasized the importance of putting health first:

“This experience has reminded me how essential it is to prioritize health and rest in order to perform at the highest level.”

She closed her statement by pledging support for her fellow Filipino athletes who will be competing at the event, and promised to focus on her recovery in the hopes of returning stronger.
