The 2023 China Open, with its highly anticipated matchups, is on the horizon. Filipino cue artists are gearing up to face some of the world’s top talents in the upcoming tournament. On the first day of this prestigious event, they will go head-to-head with formidable opponents from across the globe.
James Aranas is set to take on the Sharks International 9 Ball Open champion, Ko Ping Chung. This matchup promises to be a clash of titans, where both players will strive to establish their dominance from the very start.
Carlo Biado, the 2022 Pro Billiard Series Puerto Rico Open Champion, is slated to play against Dang Jinhu of China, who recently clinched victory at the Spanish Open. Biado will need to bring his A-game to conquer this skilled adversary and make his presence felt at the 2023 China Open.
Anthony Raga, fresh from his runner-up finish at the European Open, will cross cues with Japan’s Ace Naoyuki Oi. With both players eager to make their mark on the international stage, this showdown is poised to deliver thrilling moments and fierce competition.
Jeffrey Ignacio will go up against the seasoned player Konrad Juszczyszyn from Poland.
Dennis Orcollo, a favorite in his match, will square off against Amgalanbaatar Yeruult from Mongolia. This marks Orcollo’s first foray in a big international tournament this 2023.
Johann Chua who’s also fresh from his runner-up finish in the just concluded 2023 Formosa open, is expected to dominate his match against Zhu Xihe of China.
However, an intriguing twist awaits as Chua, Raga, and Ignacio all find themselves in Group C, where only two players can advance. This sets the stage for an intense battle among the Filipino players, as only two out of the three can make it to the next round.
In the Women’s division, Filipino cue artists are equally determined to shine. Rubilen Amit will face off against Bai Ge of China, while Chezka Centeno awaits the winner of the Chan Yu vs. Shi Tianqi match, both formidable opponents from China.
