Chezka Centeno is on her way to Greatness

In 2016, Chezka Centeno became the youngest player ever to win the Amway Cup at 16 years old, securing the top prize of $34,000. Currently at 24 years old, despite all of her accomplishments, she still has a lot of room to grow in her game. This is quite a scary proposition for her competition.

Centeno’s fast pace and precise shot-making ability are a sight to behold, but she’s beginning to understand when to take her time to avoid costly mistakes. She’s also starting to balance the offensive and defensive aspects of her game.

Being so skilled at pocketing shots could sometimes lead to leaning towards more aggressive options on the table. However, that’s an area of growth in her game that I’m sure will only make her an even more dangerous player.

Just look at what she’s been able to accomplish in her recent tournaments:

2023 Medalla Light Puerto Rico Women's Open: 5th out of 43
2023 WPA World 10-Ball Women’s Championship: Champion
2023 Kamui World Women's 9-Ball Championship: 5th out of 64
2022 Medalla Light Puerto Rico Women's Open: 2nd out of 64
2022 Predator World Women's 10-Ball Championship: 5th out of 64
2022 Asian 9-Ball Open Women's Division: Champion

In the Predator Pro Billiard Series, she has one of the highest winning percentages:

Chezka Centeno: 83%
Chieh-Yu Chou: 83%
Meng-Hsia Hung: 79%
Tzu-Chien Wei: 79%
Allison Fisher: 74%
Seo Seoa: 74%
Xiaoting Pan: 67%
Kelly Fisher: 62%
Han Yu: 60%
Margaret Fefilova: 60%

During her first stint in the 2023 Worlds Teams Championship, she performed exceptionally well. She hardly showed any jitters and, in my opinion, was the most consistent player on Team Philippines. This bodes well for the country’s hopes of capturing another championship in this event in the coming years.

On February 22nd and 27th, she will be competing in the Las Vegas Women’s Open and PBS Women’s Showdown. This is a great opportunity for the world to finally see that Centeno is truly exceptional and on a trajectory to becoming one of the best women pool players of all time.
