The Billiard Congress of America (BCA) has announced that four-time world champion Carlo Biado of the Philippines will be inducted into the BCA Hall of Fame. The 41-year-old, who recently captured the 2025 World Pool Championship in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, becomes the sixth Philippines-born player to receive the honor, joining Efren Reyes (2003), Francisco Bustamante (2010), Jose Parica (2014), Alex Pagulayan (2019) and Dennis Orcollo (2022).
Biado’s induction ceremony will take place on November 22, 2025, at the Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Florida, during the International Open pool tournament.
Reacting to the news, Biado expressed surprise and gratitude, saying, “I am in shock. I am not expecting this now. I think I am not ready yet, but since I am elected, I’m going to take it. It is a blessing and I’m going to share this with my fellow players in the Philippines.”
Unlike some of his compatriots who quickly rose to international success, Biado’s journey was gradual. He reached the final of the 2015 World 10-Ball Championship before claiming the gold medal at the 2017 World Games in Poland, the SEA Games Men’s 9-Ball gold, and his first world title at the 2017 World 9-Ball Championship. He was runner-up to Joshua Filler in 2018.
Biado’s subsequent achievements include winning the 2021 U.S. Open 9-Ball, additional SEA Games gold in Men’s 10-Ball, the 2022 WPA World Teams Championship with Johann Chua and Rubilen Amit, and the Predator Pro Billiard Series Puerto Rico Open. In 2024, he secured the WPA World 10-Ball Championship, and in July 2025, he claimed the World Pool Championship title by defeating Fedor Gorst 15–13, earning $250,000.
Voting for the 2025 BCA Hall of Fame was conducted by the United States Billiard Media Association (USBMA) Hall of Fame Board. In his second year on the ballot, Biado received 42 out of 46 votes (91%). South Korean champion Ga Young Kim garnered 66% of the votes, falling short of the 70% threshold required for dual induction from the Greatest Players category.
The BCA Hall of Fame recognizes players aged 40 or older with at least a decade-long professional career and significant achievements in both U.S. and international competition.
