Ko Pin Yi captured the CTPBA Pro Tour Grand Finals title with a dramatic 13–12 victory over
AJ Manas.
Manas took early control of the match, racing to a 3–0 lead. Ko responded to level the score at 3–3, but Manas regained momentum and stretched the gap to 7–3, controlling much of the match through disciplined shot selection and improved safety play.
On the hill at 12–9, Manas missed an open 1-ball, allowing Ko back into contention.
A golden break by Ko closed the gap to 12–11, and a fortunate roll on the 2-ball in the next game enabled Ko to level the score at 12–12.
In the deciding rack, Ko Pin Yi capitalized on his opportunity and, with steady shot-making, closed out the match to secure the championship.
Despite the loss, it was a strong showing from the 18-year-old Manas. His improved safety play bodes well for upcoming tournaments and is a clear sign of growing maturity in his game. Just one rack short of winning the title, there is plenty to be optimistic about based on his overall performance in this tournament.
