With the announcement of the Indonesia International 10-Ball Open being included under the Predator Pro Billiard Series (PBS)—set to take place in Jakarta on July 11–15—it’s becoming clearer that major tournament organizers are shifting their focus to Southeast Asia. PBS had earlier announced the World 10-Ball Open to be staged in Vietnam this coming September 20–28.
Meanwhile, WNT tournaments such as the Peri Open and the Hanoi Open—both happening in Vietnam—will feature back-to-back $200,000 prize funds, cementing the region’s growing prominence.
It’s worth noting that we’ve long highlighted the emerging market power of Southeast Asia—particularly Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines. This latest move by PBS further underscores how serious the industry’s key players are about staking their claim in the region.
To add to this trend, Chinese organizers such as Joy Heyball and the Duya Golden Nine are also expanding their calendars to include more events in Southeast Asia. Most notably, Duya has recently announced that Vietnam will be one of their upcoming stops this year.
However, the Philippines still seems to be falling behind in this wave of activity. With only the Reyes Cup currently on the calendar, we hope to see more major tournaments hosted in our country soon.
